Dr. Niko Keys provides FAA physicals for pilots who need to renew their medical certificate or those applying for the first time.

Class I, II and III examinations are available for airline and corporate aviation professionals as well as for private pilots and student pilots.
Dr. Keys is an ER Physician and a pilot friendly Aviation Medical Examiner. He is current with FAA regulations and maintains a close relationship with the FAA by participating in required FAA training. All applicants for a Medical Certificate must complete their form online through MedXpress prior to the appointment for their pilot physical examination. Please note that Dr. Niko Keys does not participate in the BasicMed program.

There are three levels of certification that you can get from an Aviation Medical Exam (AME). Dr. Keys performs all three:

  • First Class - designed for the airline transport pilot. Good for one year age less than 40, good for 6 months over age 40. Requires an EKG at age 35 and then once per year over age 40.

  • Second Class - designed for the commercial pilot. Good for 12 months.

  • Third Class - designed for the student, recreational and private pilot. Under age 40 good for 5 years - over age 40 good for 2 years.

Dr. Keys also performs Student Pilot exams.

Once we have completed your medical exam and you have met all the required medical standards, we will submit all the required paperwork and the AME will issue you a medical certificate.

Preparing for your FAA medical exam:

  •   Hydrate in the  24 hours before your appointment

  •   Avoid excesses of caffeine, sodium, and sugar

  •   Bring a picture ID

  •   Bring your eyeglasses or contact lenses (case and solution) to the exam

  •   Bring documentation for any special issuance from the FAA including PI number
